Well maybe thats a bit strong. But it does seem strange to see the BBC reporting from Buckingham Palace the Queen handing the baton to athletes at the start of the relay to the Gold Coast and then on the same day that Durban will definitely not host the Commonwealth Games. Coincidental timing perhaps?
Probably a sensible decision for Durban given the financial situation in South Africa.
Liverpool looks set to step into Durbans shoes to become host after the Gold Coast has done its bit. It will be interesting to see if there are any other bids against Liverpool. I doubt it and hope not for the sake of the people of Liverpool who wont then be saddled with a bill for bidding for, as well as hosting the Games.
