Reframing

Reframing problems is a strategy used to change the perspective of a situation or challenge, resulting in new insights and solutions. This technique involves rethinking the problem from different angles and considering new or alternative ways of defining it. The purpose of reframing is to create a fresh perspective and find innovative solutions that may not have been apparent before.

At Rushmans, we have been using this method for many years. In recent years we have worked hard to develop our skills and the application for clients.

Reframing a problem requires a change in mindset and a willingness to challenge traditional ways of thinking. The first step in reframing is to define the problem clearly. This can involve breaking down the problem into smaller parts, or finding a new way to describe the challenge. Next, it is important to consider the root cause of the problem and to identify any underlying assumptions or biases.

One effective way of reframing a problem is by looking at it from a different point of view. For example, instead of viewing a problem as a hindrance, it can be reframed as an opportunity. Another approach is to consider the problem from a different time frame. For example, instead of thinking about a problem in the present, it can be reframed as a future opportunity.

Reframing can also involve taking a systems-thinking approach, where the problem is viewed as part of a larger interconnected system, and the solution is found by looking at the problem in the context of the system as a whole. This can lead to a more holistic and sustainable solution.

In conclusion, reframing problems is a powerful tool for finding new solutions and generating innovative ideas. By changing how we think about challenges, we can create fresh perspectives, challenge traditional thinking, and find new and creative solutions. The key to successful reframing is to remain open-minded, flexible, and willing to explore new and unconventional ideas.

We build this approach into our Collaborative Thinking process in workshops for our clients. More information at rushmans.com/collaborative-solutions.
